Tuesday Media Log
Relatively slow day… spent way too long on Wikipedia and browsing the internets
In Theaters
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (***): Decent family movie. Some laughs, the CGI was pretty good (but not Pixar quality). My expectations were somewhat high after Kung Fu Panda but this didn’t really deliver. My sister seemed to enjoy it though.

In Theathers
Gran Torino (*****): Surprisingly good movie. I watched it because I thought my cousin would enjoy it but I ended up liking it a great deal. Clint Eastwood plays the part very well. His antics are unintentionally funny and easily the movie’s highlights.
Revolutionary Road (*****): I’m a huge fan of Leonardo Dicaprio and it’s hard to find faults with his...

In Theaters
The Spirit (***): The ending and Eva Mendes’ performance are the only things worth noting. Could have definitely waited for the DVD release here. Not a bad movie just nothing extraordinary.
DVD
Super High Me (*****): The hilarious tale of a guy who spends 30 days avoiding pot and 30 days doing pot non-stop. Inspired by Super Size Me.

Burn After Reading (****): A lot of big stars and overall good but missing something all the way through.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (****): Good old fashioned 80s comedy.
In Theaters
Slumdog Millionaire (*****): Pretty low expectations here but one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. Really interesting plot and solid acting.

DVD
The Last King of Scotland (*****): Another movie I avoided because I thought it was largely about the President’s government and actions. The introduction of the doctor and the relationship they form made this excellent.

DVD
- The Notebook (*****): I avoided this because I thought it wouldn’t be manly enough but it’s actually a great (if sad) story.
- Meet the Robinsons (*****): Great family movie. Solid CGI, good jokes and a nice moral message.

Since last Friday, I’ve spent time watching and playing the following:
Theatrical Releases
- Seven Pounds (****): I had no idea what to expect going into it but Will Smith delivered a really strong performance. Sort of depressing and definitely the “feel bad” movie of the year but definitely recommended.
- Milk (****): For some reason, I thought this was supposed to be a...
